Comment DBCC-4432
The boundaries proposed do not properly take into account the distinct regions of Wales and are arbitrary areas that constituents will not feel connected to. Many people in Wales identify with their local authority area or historic county and I think this would make for a better division rather than the Westminster constituencies.
I would suggest the following amendments:
Bangor Aberconwy, Ynys Mon, Dwyfor Meirionnydd (Gwynedd a Mon or North West Wales) - This makes more sense as a recognisable region of Wales centred around Eryri with a strong percentage of Welsh speaking constituents.
Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr & Brecon, Radnor and Cwm Tawe (Powys or Mid Wales) - This makes sense as a cohesive region that comes under the same local authority, thus making it easier for MS's to deal with constituency issues.
Swansea East and Neath & Aberavon Masteg (no name suggestion) - this makes better sense as a cohesive cultural and historic region.
The other proposed constituencies seem relatively reasonable options. Some of the names are clunky and would be better with names that reflect regional geographic features or historic regional names. I think there should be a preference for these to be in Welsh only where possible.
