Comment DBCC-4438
Id like to feed my views into the proposals.
Swansea East could reasonably be paired with Neath but hardly has any cultural or historic association or relevance to Radnorshire.
Radnorshire surely should be paired with Brecon and perhaps Montgomeryshire.
It seems unthinkable that with 96 members not one member would be distinctively representing just Ceredigion. Likewise Pembrokeshire. (And Ynys Mon being paired with Aberconway.....seems odd, why not give it special status and its own constituency
The solution may be to vary slightly the number of members from each of the constituencies, and create more homogenous constituencies albeit some bigger than others
My proposal would be far historically sensible homogenous and looks something like this
Swansea and Gower
Neath Port Talbot
Ogmore Maesteg and Bridgend
Carmarthenshire with Llanelli
Pembrokeshire
Ceredigion
Cardiff with Penarth
Barry and the Vale
Newport and Monmouthshire
Ynys Mon
Dwyfor & Meirioneddshire Yr Eyri (inc Caernarfon and Bangor)
Aberconwy with Llandudno Llandrillo Rhos
Brecnock Radnorshire & Montgomeryshire
Clywd: Wrexham Alyn and Deeside (inc Rhyl Prestatyn Mold)
Merthyr Aberdare and the Rhondda Valleys with Pontypridd and Caerphilly (The Glamorgan Valleys)
Torfaen Islwyn Bl Gwent inc Rhymney Blackwood (The Gwent Valleys)
All 16 constituencies have a natural historic and cultural association and a natural flow. Some would have more members some less based on population.
Kind Regards
