The proposals have been built based on a road connection between the prospective paired constituencies. This does not take into account the practicalities and efficiencies of working with other democratic bodies such as local councils. The constituency relating to the Rhondda has paired it with Aberavon and Maesteg and this would cause an elected member a multiplicity of councils to deal with. It would be more efficient if existing council geographic areas were to be used. Eg Rhondda should be paired with Pontypridd or Cynon as the council dealing with this would be Rhondda Cynon Taf. With the current proposal each Senedd member would have multiple councils to deal with
