Comment DBCC-8021

The 'Commission' is carrying out its statutory duties Schedule 2 paragraph 2(1) of the Senydd Cymru (Members and Elections) Act 2024 states that "The area of each Senydd Constituency must consist of each of the combined areas of two contiguous UK parliamentary constituencies in Wales".

Therefore in Page 8 of its Report that having clear communication and travel connections is a vital part of being able to provide for effective and convenient representation that Ynys Mon and Bangor Aberconwy are paired.
I agree with the Commission.

I request therefore that it would be better to pair Clwyd North with Clwyd East and Clwyd North not being contiguous with any other Westminster Constituency except Bangor Aberconwy should and must be paired with Clwyd North.

Pairing due to sparse population in Wales of Dwyfor Merionnydd with Montgomeryshire and Glyndwr or Ceredigion Preseli I would definitely support this as otherwise the alternative is not acceptable. I agree with the Commission.

The Commission has suggested taking into account its local ties Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire as suitable pairings. I agree with this suggestion.

I support the proposed pairings of Brecon, Radnor, Neath, Swansea East constituencies as preferable for the Welsh Valleys.

The North-South running valleys should pair Merthye Tydfil, Aberdare, Pontypridd and Blaenau Gwent, Rhymney and Caerphilly due to their local long held ties as communities. I would definitely support this.

Newport and Islwyn and natural pairing also to them of Monmouthshire and Torfaen as an excellent suggestion by the Commission.

The Commission is correct in pairing the closely linked Vale of Glamorgan with Bridgend being I feel a natural pairing.

Aberfan, Maesteg, Rhondda and Ogmore with their industrial ties should be paired.

It is the correct pairing by The Commission for the four constituencies of Cardiff and their links. I agree.

I certainly hope this is the last tinkering of our boundaries as the cost has to be borne in mind and what is the motivation that it has been raised once again by the Senydd.
