Pairing South Wales seats based on North Wales pairings is ridiculous; should it be considered based on Wales wide boundaries, sure, but must it force your hand in removing communities in the South, no.
Removing and separating communities in the South because the North will lose out less isn't fair. The North will lose out somewhat anyway because of geography and population density. Unless we move mountains or force 500k new babies in the North, it will always be disproportionate to the South.
The North naturally has less connection than the South; it's more rural, there are fewer people, and it shouldn't take priority over the South where there is immediate connection and community unlike the North - or where there is in the North, they will still remain together as part of a larger constituency without being split up.
The current proposals destroys communities, confuses locals and all the while the North still doesn't have perfect seats where as the South could legitimately have seats close to 100%. Instead you choose everyone must have sub par seats.
Why then must everyone suffer when the seats you are trying to save i.e. North Wales will suffer regardless. Everyone losing isn't how you solve some people losing. Aberafan Maesteg must be paired with Bridgend. The community is one road in one road out from Maesteg to Bridgend and Aberafan via Port Talbot is direct to Margam and Porthcawl via the M4. This local connection with elected representatives and constituents will be gone because "the bridge in Ynys Mon says no".
Bridgend and the Vale are vastly different in economics and health. The people of Bridgend and the people of the Vale are not the same people. Bridgend more closely aligns to Aberafan Maesteg where people belong to the same families, friend, schools, communities and those people are of similar class and mentality. The Vale should be paired with a Cardiff constituency that more accurately reflects the social class of the area.
