Comment DBCC-8148

This is far too large an area, and too diverse culturally and linguistically, to be adequately represented as a single unit. It is also quite clearly wrong not to unite the Wrexham area as a single unit, and the presence of a largely urban corner to the constituency is, in my opinion, likely to result in the needs of the more sparsely populated rural areas not being as fully understood or represented as they should be, by those elected to the Sennedd. I consider that this is already happening regarding our representation at Westminster, and regret the boundary changes that have led to this. In my view, the interests of the people are more adequately met by the previous model than anything proposed by this review, but if Montgomeryshire needs to be paired with another area it should be to the south, so that the distinctive needs and issues faced by the rural borderlands are properly represented.
