we feel it appropriate that the current constituencies boundaries remain in place
I would like to register my discontent with the proposed boundary changes.
Firstly as a Town Councillor in Brecon & Radnorshire I find it disappointing that the Senedd would drop the historic Brecon & Radnorshire name entirely and make no mention of our area. Breconshire and Powys were historically rival kingdoms, and although Breconshire is now within the county of Powys, for the Senedd to completely drop the name Brecon / Breconshire from the Senedd constituency is disappointing and is disrespectful to our identity.
Secondly, Brecon and Radnorshire is historically a rural and agricultural constituency. To change our rural and agricultural farming constituency into one which now has a sea border seems peculiar. The communities and people within the new proposed constituency have very different identities. Also the vast size of the constituency is alarming. It's so vast that travelling from the bottom to the top of the constituency is a similar distance to me leaving my house in Breconshire and arriving at Oxford. The community in Oxford is very different to that in Breconshire, similarly the community in the urban sprawl of Swansea East and its coastline are very different to my community in Breconshire.
Kind regards
Councillor Adam Brown
It does however stretch all the way to Swansea East. It may even up the numbers of voters but it mix very different communities.
