Comment DBCC-8425

I am writing with my response to this consultation.

I consider that the proposals for constituency names to be in Welsh only are completely unacceptable.

There is a legal requirement for signs and public body information to be produced in both English and Welsh. In recent years this has led to greatly increased information to be available in Welsh. You now seem to be ignoring that Wales is a bilingual country and that public bodies are required to communicate in both languages. Surely a consistent standard on the use of both languages should be applied and not just selectively used to promote the Welsh language?

As one of the majority of Welsh people, who speaks only English, I consider these proposals are unreasonable, politically motivated and inconsistent with the bilingual standards that are applied elsewhere in Wales. There are no reasonable grounds for such inconsistency and I register my very strong objection to the proposal to only use names in the Welsh language.
