Welsh Labour would like to thank the Democracy and Boundary Commission Cymru for their work on the Senedd boundaries for the 2026, and for providing opportunities for political parties and others to submit their views via the two consultations.

In our submission to the initial consultation, we set out that we were supportive of all of the initial proposals other than the arrangement in Cardiff. The Revised Proposals published in December 2024 have the pairing of constituencies in Cardiff which we preferred for the reasons set out in our first submission. As such, we support the Revised Proposals in full. The reasoning for this is set out in our initial consultation submission and we draw the Commission's attention to that, rather than setting that out again a second time.

We note that there have been significant changes to the proposed names of the constituencies. Rather than make formal proposals for names from Welsh Labour, we understand that individual Labour MSs, MPs and Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs) will make submissions on the naming of their areas, and we would encourage the Commission to take those into account when finalising the names of constituencies.
